OSS

OSS
Office of Strategic Services (Anglais. En franc. = Office des Services Stratégiques). Organisme américain de renseignement et d'action, créé en juin 1942 par William J. Donovan, et dissous en octobre 1945. Son rôle fut donc spécifiquement lié à la Seconde Guerre mondiale. En dehors de l'Extrême-Orient (domaine réservé aux services de renseignement du général Mac-Arthur) et de l'Amérique latine (fief traditionnel du FBI), le champ d'action de VOSS fut mondial. Son action fut particulièrement efficace en Suisse (grâce, entre autre, à la personnalité d'Allen Dulles), en Grande-Bretagne et en Afrique du Nord. L'expérience acquise par l'OSS allait se révéler fort utile à la future CIA (créée en 1947).
